A CWE #8 Submission, cowritten by the fantastically talented Vivian.  This story begins just hours after the ending of the Red Trailer Mystery and follows Jim and Honey home as they adjust to becoming siblings and explores how Jim Frayne and the three Wheelers begin to change into a family.  Rated blue star for everybody.  (By the way, if you haven’t already, check out  The Sleepyside Apartments for more works written by the fantastic Vivian.  It will be well worth your time!)

THE BLACK JACKET AND TRIXIE BELDEN

The events of Trixie Belden’s first encounter with Dan Mangan from the point of view of Dan’s black leather jacket. We’ve heard what Trixie thought of Dan and his jacket when she first saw him get on the school bus with Mr. Maypenny, but what did the jacket think of her? This short, canon scene rewrite is a submission for CWE #18 “and Trixie Belden”.

FAITH OF THE FATHERLESS

Dan Mangan, gang member, homeless truant and grieving orphan arrives in Sleepyside in the court ordered presence of a relative stranger, with little intention of remaining in town long. This story chronicles Dan’s emotional journey through the events of Black Jacket through the eyes of the two men who eventually become his family.

SHADOW OF A BLACK CROW

A series of short vignettes that chronicle the events of Trixie Belden and the Uninvited Guest from the point of view of Dan and a few other characters.  Best enjoyed in order, but not necessarily a requirement if you’ve read Book 17.  Written for the 17th Jixanny Celebration A Picture is Worth 1000 Words Challenge.  

A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS

Dan makes a snowy trip to NYC on Christmas Eve to honor his mother during his first Christmas in Sleepyside and finds a little adventure, a little mystery.  When he returns, he realizes how much love he’s surrounded with in his new home.

THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS

Dan befriends Nick Roberts during a field trip to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Historical Site.  Their friendship develops during the fall and culminates in a spontaneous Christmas Eve celebratory outing in which both boys learn about themselves, each other and the true spirit of Christmas.  Written as a 2014 Secret Santa gift for the talented PatK. 

THOSE LESS FORTUNATE

Two fellow scarred passengers find shelter and solace in one of the shacks in the preserve, using it as a place to find refuge on dark days, bond, and plan for better ones.  A CWE #7 Submission, natch. 

PEACEFUL EASY FEELING

Dan and Hallie’s relationship develops in a myriad of directions after Dan and Mart visit Hallie’s family in Idaho.  Feelings expand, contract and are hurt as the pair struggle with the distance and similarities between their matching but untamable souls.

The differences between Dan’s past and current destiny change his perceptions of the value of money.  Also, he flirts with a cute bank teller.  A CWE#3 Submission.

A story completion submitted for CWE#20 Part 2, this is my take on an ending to a story started by MaryC.  Bobby Belden ventures into the preserve on a moonlit night to discover what happens when the clocks strike 24 and finds more than he expected.

On the night of the full moon, someone more dangerous than a catamount prowls the depths of the game preserve, converting an unsuspecting potential hunter into the hunted.  Submitted for Ryl and Mal’s Third Annual Halloween Challenge.

THE TWELVE SHOPPING DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

A festive holiday display and an accidental inventory surplus lead to delicious consequences as a longtime Sleepyside resident discovers that sharing your light with others can result in unanticipated rewards.  A 2015 Secret Santa gift for the incomparable Rolyru. 

TRIXIE BELDEN’S FRIENDS AND THE MYSTERY OF THE DOWNTOWN ROBBERIES

A mysterious string of hold-ups are taking place throughout the Hudson Valley, and Sleepyside is the villain’s next target.  Trixie Belden is hot on the trail, but in the meantime, the rest of the Bob-Whites have troubles of their own.  Can the seven friends resolve their differences and help solve the mystery or will jealousy and tension tear the BWGs apart? 

MOVEMBER RAIN

Miss Trask suffers through a torturous month of hormonal imbalance, inner turmoil and public embarrassment caused by the sudden appearance of facial hair when two of the male BWGs decide to grow mustaches to raise awareness for men’s health issues.  A CWE#4 Submission.

DECEMBER SNOW

Miss Trask recovers from the travesty of Movember and immediately engages in a new romantic adventure, triggered by a third vague resemblance and an unexpected handmade gift from her sister Analynn.  An invitation to a work holiday party, a sudden snowstorm and the subtle influence of a colleague and friend make for a December to remember.  A 2016 Secret Santa giftfic for the fabulous Dianafan.

OUT LAST NIGHT

Regan and Dan go on their version of a family vacation in Rehoboth Beach, Deleware.  They try to meet girls, with varying degrees of success.  No angst, no bitter weepy flashbacks, no tragic references to abuse, just sunshine, sand, bonding and fun!  A CWP 2.12 submission.

THE END OF THE INNOCENCE

An unsolicited confession in the clubhouse during a meeting of the male Bob-Whites sparks a confrontation between Jim and Dan, surfacing past trauma and threatening their bond as fellow survivors. Can their friendship survive the Bob-White’s journey into adulthood, or will it end with the innocence?
